The Product No One Cared About (Why Its A Good Thing)

Today was huge for me.

Today I did something I never knew I would do and nor did I ever perceive it to be on my radar 10 years ago.

Today I released my first digital product. A photo editing preset pack with 7 presets all created during my time in Scotland. I am particular proud of this product because it takes me back to my time in Scotland every time.

Now, here’s the harsh reality.

I thought when I first released it there was going to be a rushing horde of people clawing there way over to buy it. After sitting there for a while watching my sales page stay at $0.00 I realized something…No one cares.

Its true, no one cares I just released my first online digital product and sure, it might look good but by now I have been learning that its actually a good thing to lean into this reality. Why? Well for one thing it frees me up to keep working hard to perfect my craft and whatever it is I am doing. If I don’t have the pressure of pleasing anyone and no one is holding me to any standard, I should just keep working hard to create what I enjoy.

I have the added bonus of being able to create and do all of this from the security of a 9-5 job as well but that is a topic for another blog. But this should free me up to want to create the next thing even if it takes time to generate any time of momentum. Its taken me 2 years to hit 1,700 subscribers on Youtube at the time of writing this because online communities take time to build trust.

That is what this lesson has been for me. Sure I may have a sick preset pack I am proud of, but now I need to get to work and show the world why this works and gain their trust.

The good news is this is only the start. Having a product I can market and the potential to create bigger and betters offers invigorates me to keep perfecting my craft. So I am glad no one cares. There is no pressure and now I can begin working on learning how to market a product like this. This is all good news.

See you soon.
