That One Thing…Is The Most Important.
There has not been a single day over the last 14 days where I want to do what must be done.
Let me back up.
For the last two weeks, I have been on the edge or feeling burnt out. It’s very tempting to want to claim that and excuse any type of lazy behavior and justify it any way I can. I could. It’d be easy.
But that’s the thing, it’s too easy.
Over the last two weeks I have been challenged by these two thoughts:
“Do that one thing you don’t feel like doing, because now that one thing is the most important thing you must do to keep moving forward.”
And,
“Market yourself like your life depended on it, because it does.”
The second one is obvious when running a small business and trying to make something of it. No explanation needed, but the second one is more difficult since it’s the one challenge I don’t want to take on because as I said earlier, it’s too easy to justify “taking a break.”
I have also been more productive over the last 30 days than I have been in a while prior to this.
When I approach my work, if there is something I don’t feel like doing but I know must be done, even if it’s just something small, that has now become the most important thing and viewing that as a daily challenge has helped me be more productive even on the days I am not 100%.
Over the last 30 days I have been able to successfully launch a website, launch my first digital product, start blogging (with a B), batch record and plan 7 YouTube videos (in one week), and get myself situated to take on my biggest passion project to date.
I didn’t realize how many projects with family and work were taking up my attention when trying to focus on such a big project for myself as working on my short film. So recognizing this strategy and working hard to keep up and create systems in place for myself has been a huge win.
All that to say, if you’re feeling burnt out, take a breather, but don’t stay there too long. The best antidote for burn out is doing something that you don’t feel like doing but must be done.
That one thing has now become the most important thing.
Go and do it.
Talk soon.
