The Real YouTube Hack: Slow Down
Is slowing down the secret to having fun in the creator economy?
I am not sure but I man going to find out.
If you’re at all involved in the content creator economy you may have realized that this time of year, it seems like every other video on the recommended feed is all about telling you the latest hack or secret to make it big on Youtube.
You may have even noticed, if you watch even just one of these videos, that the goal of these videos is literally just to convince you of one thing…you can be the next best thing.
You can realize your potential if you just do these 3 secret steps.
You can get all the views.
I have sat through many of these videos to see what all the hype was about and I gotta say, I was so extremely bored.
Everything was about how to get more views and it was literally, word for word, the same tactics as years past.
Like I said, so boring.
There was nothing new. ill even save you time by outlining what they say so you never have to watch these again….
Be authentic. No one likes fake.
Do what makes you happy.
Make videos that bring meaning.
Create good thumbnails.
Be patient.
Teach so you can learn.
You’re welcome.
So at this point, I might even ask, “Stephen, why do you care?”
Well being on year 3 of YouTube its frustrating how misleading these videos are and how they get you to care so much about such vanity like only working to get views. the problem with that is that we get so many carbon copy videos of people and then YouTube looses the quality it used to have.
Original people making original content for fun, no matter the viewership.
What am I doing about it? Well for one I am doing my very best to not watch videos that explain things like this or even anyone in my niche. just podcast unrelated to my creativity. In doing so I want to force myself to be creative rather than watch other people and be jealous they came up with something I didn’t. Also this will inspire me to come up with stories on my own that I am not sure work or not but I am doing it for the pure enjoyment of it in a slow, and enjoyable way.
That is the approach for this year anyway. We’ll see if it works.
Also this thumbnail isn’t original to me nor is it anywhere in the range of what I would’ve done, I was just trying to poke fun at one of the biggest videos this year pushing the narrative I talked about earlier this year. You may have seen it.
Anyway, talk soon.
