Where I’ve Been Lately
I have been silent on YouTube and Instagram for some time now since the new year started. I stated in one of my last video in 2024 that I was entering YouTube the opposite everyone seemed to be entering, silently. It was intentional. I didn’t want to make some outlandish promises to get people hyped or anything like, “got some big things coming in 2025.”
I wanted to coast into so I can take it slow and re evaluate what I want to focus on this coming year. It has indeed been a slow January for me in 2025. This has helped me spend time with family and think about what I want to make this year.
Well now that January is coming to a close here is what I am thinking:
I miss making videos.
I also want to learn as much as possible and diversify my skill set as well as where I market it.
Video format is going away anytime soon. It’s too valuable and I want in on the reward that comes with putting all the effort to perfect this craft. So I am going to focus on big projects. Call them passion projects for now, but I want to put more thought and detail into videos than I ever have before.
It does mean slowing down on Instagram, sure but it means crafting better stories. I’d be lying if I said I also wasn’t in this for the money because I would love to make this a full time career. This means getting ready and learning to make videos that I would like to get paid for and this ALSO means….
practice.
And that’s what I’ve been working on this month. I have been finalizing my first ever short film I will be premiering live in Atlanta, GA to a group of about 30-50 close friends and family. Hopefully this will not be early March. There is no real reason for going this far only just to be able to check that off the list and learn from the experience.
Aside from that I am trying to put some real thought behind creating fake marking ad campaigns for Instagram to practice how I would be making paid contents for brands (hence who I want to work with). In the moment I find myself both loving the slow pace, the editing and everyone in between but I also hate hate not putting stuff out there.
Regardless I don’t regret how I started 2025 because it has given me clarity. Also I have not been on Instagram for a while doom scrolling which has slightly altered my perspective on how I am thinking about creating content and how this has actually been really inspiring from the creative perspective. It might be better than using instagram as an excuse to find inspiration. More on that in the next blog post.
For now, talk to you later.
